What Are the Adverse Effects of Soaps

There are a lot of cleaning agents for the face that are out in the market, but you also have to choose wisely so as not to do more harm than good to your skin. Keep an eye out for the harsh cleansers such as soaps which can cause:

  • Skin Tightness. This is usually perceived 5–10 min after washing with a soap, and manifested by fast evaporation of water from the skin surface;
  • Skin Dryness. This is caused by solvents such as acetone, alcohols and surfactants, and the cold weather and low humidity can make these worse;
  • Skin Irritation. This can be caused by constant use harsh soaps, damaging the skin barrier.
